The artisans work with an ancient form of Indian jewelry setting known as Kudan. This technique was originated in the royal courts of Rajasthan and Gujarat and made popular in the Mughal era. The word Kundan means highly refined gold. A highly refined and pure form of molten gold is used to drip carefully atop the bezel to set the stone. To this day it remains an integral part of the traditional bridal wedding trousseau.
